The Regional Leadership Council
About The Council
The Regional Leadership Council brings together leaders from partner organizations who work alongside 2 Spirits in Motion Society. These are Natural Leaders, Executive Directors, or their designates, from 2S and Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA+ organizations and grassroot movements across the country. Together, they offer strategic advice, share community knowledge, and help strengthen a coordinated national approach to Two-Spirit advocacy and programming.
This circle exists so that 2SiMS does not do its work in isolation. By regularly bringing partner organizations into the conversation, the council helps ensure that our priorities, positions, and projects reflect what is happening on the ground in different regions.
How The Council Works
The Regional Leadership Council is accountable to the 2SiMS membership and works closely with the 2SiMS Executive Director and Board of Directors. The committee typically meets several times per year, with additional meetings called when there are urgent or time-sensitive matters that require discussion.
Meeting agendas focus on matters arising within 2SiMS and across the wider network. Such as recommendations, reports, major funding opportunities, or shifts in policy that affect Two-Spirit people. Recommendations from the council are shared with the Executive Director and the Board, and help inform organizational planning, partnerships, and national advocacy.
In all of its work, the Regional Leadership Council supports a coordinated, nation-to-nation and organization-to-organization approach to advancing the rights, safety, and wellbeing of Two-Spirit people
